S-1 (Ag-O-Cs)
Description
Discovered in 1929, Ag-O-Cs, also called S-1 is the first compound photocathode material to be studied. The name S-1 comes from a Joint Electron Devices Engineering Council (JEDEC) naming convention that designates the region of the photocathode's spectral response. It is used in photomultiplier tubes for near-infrared operation.
